Privacy Policy

subpixel is a place to build and explore small pixel worlds. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the service.

What we store

• Nothing about you, except your email address, and only when you choose to sign in.
• Your email is used solely to establish who you are, so we can verify your access to worlds and content you create or are permitted to edit.
• A session cookie keeps you signed in. It is stored in your browser, is HttpOnly, and contains no personal data beyond your signed-in email.

What we do not do

• We do not use analytics or advertising trackers.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your information.
• We do not build profiles or track your activity across other sites.

Signing in

You can sign in with Google, with Apple, or with a six-digit code we email you. Google and Apple handle their part and return your verified email address, through a sign-in registration shared by Artifact's apps, which is why they name Artifact; artifact.com/sign-in says what that registration receives. If you hide your address from Apple, we receive Apple's relay address instead, and it forwards our mail to you. An emailed code works once, for ten minutes; we keep only a one-way hash of it until then. Whichever way you sign in, we keep only your email.

Content you create

Worlds and edits you make are stored so they persist and can be shown to others. Content published on the platform may be publicly visible. Your email is associated with your content only to control who may edit it.

Deleting your data

You can sign out at any time to remove the session cookie. To have your account and associated content removed, contact us at the address below.

Using the service

• Use subpixel lawfully and respectfully. Do not upload or create content that is illegal, abusive, or infringes others' rights.
• Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the service or other users' content.
• You are responsible for the content you create and for keeping your account secure.

Your content

You retain ownership of what you create. By publishing it on subpixel, you allow us to store and display it as part of operating the platform. Content published on shared or public worlds may be visible to others.

Availability and changes

The service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, and may change or become unavailable at any time. We may update these terms; continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, subpixel and its operators are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service.
